Why
did you decide to join SETX ARN? |
| Dee Jae writes, “I joined to become more involved with
health care professionals in the same field. My professional goals not
only include sitting for the CRRN exam in July of this year, but to
become more actively involved in my professional organization, ARN. |

| “In 2000, I embarked into rehabilitation nursing at HealthSouth
Rehabilitation Hospital (now called clear Lake Rehabilitation Hospital)
as the 7-3 charge nurse. I was involved in Employee Health, Infection
Control, and new employee orientation. I loved the concept of
rehabilitation nursing. I am now Nurse Manager of our Rehabilitation
Unit here at SJMH and the enjoyment is still with me.” |

|
What does Rehabilitation Nursing mean to you?
Far More Rewarding than Words can Express |
| “My greatest professional fulfillment is in recently witnessing an
individual with a right CVA with left hemiparesis, who has experienced a
life-changing event, come to the unit and improve enough to go home. To
see this person, who was resistant to come to Rehabilitation because of
the impossibilities of seeing improvement, and then see such a positive
change, not only physically but also mentally and psychologically, is
far more rewarding than words can express.” |

|
Anything else that you would like to share? |
| I appreciate the opportunity to work in the healthcare industry and
participate in my local ARN Association. I look forward to my
involvement in the organization this coming year. I am honored to be a
part of ARN, the bigger picture of rehabilitation nursing. |
