Jane Berdou, BSN, RN, CRRN

Current Employment: Corvel, Disability Management
Position:   RN, Medical Case Manager
  Manage workers compensation injuries, catastrophic injuries, long-term and short-term disability.

Why did you decide to join SETX Chapter ARN?
“I wanted to continue to learn and grow professionally, meet others in the health care field, visit facilities and physicians who provide excellent care, obtain CEUs, and maintain CCM certification.
Awards Received: Won a scholarship to the Rehabilitation Nursing Review Workshop one year (but could not participate as I had to be out-of-town).
Community Involvement:
 “I serve as librarian in my Church, volunteer in Red Cross, Red Cross disaster Assessment Team (DAT), and Harris County Community Emergency Response Team (CERTS). I also worked with other volunteers with Hurricane Katrina victims in Houston, and worked with other volunteers in my church to help with clean-up in Orange and Beaumont after Hurricane Rita.
 
Exceptional Accomplishment:
“Earning my BSN from UT Houston, and a BS in Microbiology. Also, owned, directed, and taught in my Montessori Schools for 13 years, one in Baton Rouge, LA and one in Houston, TX.
Hobbies, Special Interests: - Kayaking-Galveston Bay Eco Paddle Group
- Pleasure and surveying wildlife in Trinity Bay area
- Camping
- International folk Dancing
- Travel
- Grandkids
- Museums/History
 
Previous Experience: - 15 years as RN Medical Case Management
- Hospital work in cardiac telemetry, and medical-surgery
- Home Health
What does Rehabilitation Nursing means to me:
“I enjoy working with patients and health care providers and specialists, as well as research and networking with other case managers to provide opportunities for recovery and return to work (RTW). I enjoy learning all the varieties of injuries, diseases and treatment being coordinated for patients. I enjoy making a difference in recovery and RTW.”
 
And on a Final Note…..
“I am lucky to enjoy what I do and the people I work with, faith, family and friends.”
