Revelyn Buckholtz, RN, BS, CRRN

Congratulations to Revelyn as the new 2004-2005 One Year Board Member for Southeast Texas Chapter ARN!

Current Employment:    The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR)

Position:                             Admissions Nurse

In her role as an admissions nurse, Revelyn clears patients financially for inpatient admission to all programs and for the Day Rehabilitation Program.  She checks benefits, discusses cases with insurance case managers and gets authorization, and discusses any benefit limitations with the family.  Revelyn also discusses appropriate level of care and reimbursement with contracted providers and negotiates rates with out of network providers.

Why did you decide to join SETX Chapter ARN?

Revelyn joined to keep abreast of rehabilitation issues- clinical, research and legislative.

Community Involvement:                     Active in church with children’s groups

Exceptional Accomplishment:            Certification in Rehabilitation Nursing

Previous Experience:                           

Revelyn has worked as a “rehabilitation nurse” since 1991 – in spinal cord injury, adult brain injury as well as pediatric rehabilitation.

Hobbies, Special Interest:                                 

Revelyn enjoys reading, boating, Bible study, and trivia.  She also enjoys her family – husband, 3 children (2 in college) and one grandson – 6 years old.

What Rehabilitation Nursing Means to Me: Empowerment

Revelyn enjoys seeing patients improve and seeing them reach their maximum functional abilities.  Seeing patients/families empowered to move through the system and be aware of all available resources is also a rewarding part of rehabilitation nursing.
